my new domestic helper has arrived.

May 31, 2008 at 11:59 am (Uncategorized) ()

previously,
when i saw her full body photograph.
i had this thought in my mind.
“Ok, she’s decent looking. Looks fine to me. Acceptable.”
later, my daddy passed a remark, asking me to flip to the last page.
it was her passport page.
“oh my god, is this really her? Eyes bulging out, cheek sinking in..”
there’s a huge discrepancy between the 2 photos.

now, she has arrived.
when i looked at her, she looks more towards the full-body photograph.
Gosh! what a scare.
briefed her with the various housework that has to be done within the household.

she has quite a bit to get familiar with,
as different families will have different lifestyle.
and i think it’s appropriate and logical to give her some time to get used to our lifestyle.

oh! I forget to introduce her.
she’s called Melanie.
and she said we can call her Lanie.
she’s my ex-maid’s younger sister.

i am praying very hard for the smooth going of the employment of domestic helper.
my family’s maid-hiring record and history can’t be recited in one or two sentences.
i think we can publish a book, with all the encounters and experiences we faced while we hire them.

many will ask me:
“Why you change maid?”
“You change maid again ah?”
“What happen to the previous one?”

my replies will always be, “It’s a long story.”
but, in conclusion, what i can say is:
“Many households have different expectations from their domestic helpers. Just that those maids that left my family within their ‘contract’ doesn’t do up to our expectations. Hence, not suitable for us. So, we have to change and employ a new one, to see if there’s better chemistry between us. However, we can’t neglect that there are still other faults which exist that cause us to be firm with our decision to change her for a ‘better’ one…”

We can’t compare maids for their personality and character.
but we can compare their work performance and attitude towards their work.
Generally, the basic expectations from employers of their domestic helpers are very simple.
as long as their do their household chores properly and cook decent meals for the families,
we are practically OK with them. Nothing to find fault with.

Today is Lanie’s 1.5 days in my house,
so it’s still to early to judge her in terms of personality, attitude and all..
she’s still under “probation” for about 3 months before she’s effectively OUR domestic helper.
will have to supervise her now and then,
guide her with the housework,
as there are still miscellaneous chores which will only surface when it’s time to come.
but she has to “master” most of the work by the stipulated 3 months.

if you guys have any tips in coaching maids,
let’s share.. and discuss?
so that we can build a good working environment for the domestic workers..
and create a good rapport with them..
they traveled from their hometown, to work in a foreign country.
so they should also be given due respect.
of course, they should give us the respect that we expect from them.

hear from the pros soon~~

May 26, 2008 at 2:01 pm (Uncategorized) ()

it’s been 4 days since the last paper of the exams.

i realize that i practically have nothing to do at home,
besides reporting for my part-time job in the evenings and weekends.
should my “break” be spend in this way?

need to find some exciting things to do siah..
or else this is of no difference from daily routine to school.
need some thrills and excitement.

will be having a “date” with Joanna,
to make a trip down to Serangoon North to get some stuffs for our hamsters =)
and, because i don’t know how to differentiate the gender of my hamsters,
therefore, have asked Joanna to make a trip down to my house,
to help me see see..
or else,
they will be reproducing without stopping like nobody’s business..

台湾的小甜甜超恶心

May 25, 2008 at 5:36 pm (Gossips) (, , )

i can’t believe someone as ugly and fat as her can give herself a nickname “小甜甜”
to me lah,
she’s those very baa type lorh..
and so irritating.. cos her 脸皮 very 厚.
like, rhino skin + hippo skin + elephant skin + komodo dragon skin.

e.g. Rainie Yeung is called “可爱教主” because she’s really cute.
but fancy calling herself “小甜甜” is actually being so 恶心.
and she keep on fixing herself with other 台湾偶像, saying how she and them dated etc..
although it’s for fun and ratings of the program,
but still, i find that she’s so 不要脸.

if you all have Starhub Cable Vision (SCV) installed at home,
maybe can tune in to Channel 56,
for the program <完全娱乐>.she sometimes hosts the shows for the actual hosts,
while they were tight with their schedules as <代班主持人>.

still.. the only fair way is for us to see it with our own eyes.
all these above remarks are made by yours truly only.
she just thinks that she’s very beautiful,
and that she’s very clickable with all guys that she encounter.
oh My God..!!

天啊! 这么不要脸的人都有. 换成是我, 应该会觉得”丢脸丢到家吧”!!
会感到无地自容.

Below is a picture of her:

my new hair cut!

May 24, 2008 at 1:47 pm (Uncategorized) ()

it’s been my habit for changing my hairstyle after the “major” exams each academic year.
this time, it’s no exception for me.

i dyed my hair to a slightly brighter color.
and also cut the left side of my parting short.
maintaining the right side of it’s original length.
hahaha..

although i’ve been telling people around me that I wanna keep my hair long,
but, it’s always at the neck or shoulder length that would make me decide,
whether to continue keeping it or snip it off..
because, at the neck or shoulder length, i will feel very hot.
as if heat is trapped at that area.
so decided to snip it off. =)

here’s a picture of my new haircut, wonder if you are able to see it:

friends forever

Finally exams are over le =P

May 23, 2008 at 10:54 am (Emotions - Happy) (, , , )

yeah!!
exams finish le..
so happy..
these few days very torturous for me lorh.
have to study like mad.
somemore can’t remember all the theories and contents.
my memory is going against me.

First paper is Introduction to Economics,
follow by Statistics 1 (half unit),
den Principles of Sociology,
finally Introduction to Business and Management.

all along,
i had confidence in Statistics.
but after doing the paper,
the confidence level drop till -ve infinity.
that’s a great blow to me.
just because of a careless mistake that I made during the exam.

For the 2 theory-based papers,
it all have to depend on the criteria of the marking scheme.
and for the Economic paper,
hais..

what to do?
it’s all over..
no point harping over it.
just have to wait for the results.
actually, am rather nervous..
as long as I pass all the 4 modules,
it doesn’t matter if i don’t get within the honors range.

after the last paper,
which ended yesterday,
me, Joanna, Geraldine and Yean Yean met Alfred and Jin Xing at Simei for lunch.
we ate and chatted happily.
with all the funny encounters.
and also teasing each other..
so much fun.
this is the 2nd time that we had a get-together.
can remember that the 1st time was Geraldine’s birthday celebration.

Here are 2 pictures that we took:

Alfred, Joanna, Yean Yean, Jin Xing, Efonda and Geraldine

Alfred, Joanna, Yean Yean, Jin Xing, Efonda and Geraldine

With Dave, Jaslyn and Daphne “Missing” from the picture.

we shall organize another food outing..
with all the 9 members present  =)

Happy Birthday to Bee Gor Gor!!

May 14, 2008 at 11:17 am (Uncategorized) (, , )

today is 14 May 2008.
time now is 1109hrs.

today is ah bee gor gor’s birthday.
how old is he now?
think 30 le bah..
old le wor..

hahaha..
can remember that time how he told me about problems he faced in his relationship.
at that time,
i realise and experience what actually is brother-sister..
as i am the eldest in the family,
there isn’t and gor gor or jie jie to dote on me.

Bee gor got gave me the big brother de feeling =)
always bully and tease me..
but can be caring at times.
presently,
it seems that we are seeing each other only during Chinese New Year.

i should spend more time with my family members bah..
den next time will not have any regrets.
choy* choy*

cos that day, Yean Yean told me about her demise of her mother..
and this has daunted on me that we should spend each and every of our quality time with our family members before we regret it.
no one will know what will happen in the next second.
just like the cyclone in Myanmmar, and now the earthquake in Sze Chuan, China.
all these natural disasters takes our lives within seconds.
and they are inevitable.

well god bless those affected by the Cyclone and the Earthquake.
i had very much wanted to lend a helping hand,
but what can i do?
who can i approach to render my help?
may god lead the way =P

wonder what he\'s Eeee\'ing about...

chiong’ing for exams

May 11, 2008 at 2:06 pm (Uncategorized) (, )

just recorded some crystal songs from daddy’s CD collection.
soothing enough to make me feel relaxed while studying for the exams the following week.
these 2 papers really can make me suffocate.
lucky for me,
i don’t have a maths paper..
or else i will bang my head against the wall..

Joanna is right.
in our working life, everyday is equals to having exams.
people are evaluating your work performance every now and then..
therefore your stress level is spread over the working days.

whereas in our schooling life, only the period of about 1 month before exams,
we are stressful over the materials to get into our head..
hence the spread of stress level is over that period of one month..

comparing the difference of stress level per day,
schooling life has a higher concentration of stress than working life..

really agree with this..
well, got to go..
have to study study study..  =)
